President Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Devastating Event

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump informed journalists. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”

Public Response

Community members gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in the capital.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that educators desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the media. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to help others.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Measures and Policy Adjustments

Officials have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the government to suspend asylum processing and halt granting entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit his relatives.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with excellence, per the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,” Morrisey informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
