The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as sparing holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the commencement of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future free from concern.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, provided by a first responder, was named for the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “6-7” – originating from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Annually, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
