Satellite Photographs Indicate Iranian Naval Forces and Nuclear Facilities Damaged by US-Israeli Military Action.

A wave of US and Israeli airstrikes has reportedly eliminated or harmed at least 11 warships belonging to Iran starting the weekend, new orbital imagery demonstrate, with missile bases and enrichment plants also sustaining hits.

Photographs of the southern Konarak naval military port and the Bandar Abbas port installation, which is located on the strategic Hormuz Strait and contains the headquarters of the Iran's naval force, depict black smoke pouring from multiple warships on recent days.

Maritime Assets Incurred Major Losses

Among the targets eliminated was the Makran, the country's biggest warship which had served as a unmanned aerial vehicle platform. Aerial imagery displayed black smoke pouring from the vessel which had been moored at the Bandar Abbas naval base.

Analytical reports suggest that no fewer than a quintet of warships at Bandar Abbas were "damaged or eliminated". Imagery of the southern end of the harbor reveal smoke rising from the Makran, while two other vessels are visibly impacted, with a single one clearly on fire.

Over at the Konarak base, photos display numerous harmed vessels, with analysis identifying strikes against six ships. Images taken on Monday also show that a number of structures at the installation have been leveled.

"For a long time the Iranian regime has threatened international shipping," a senior US military official declared. "Now, there is not a single Iranian vessel underway in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Sea of Oman, and we will persist."

A number of vessels allegedly sunk may have been hidden in aerial photos by weather conditions or battle damage, or hit in open waters, and have not been conclusively proven. Additional information indicated that one Iranian ship was sinking off the coast of Sri Lanka's waters, resulting in a rescue operation.

Rocket Installations and Atomic Facilities Hit

The destruction of Tehran's launch facilities and the hindering of enrichment activities were listed as additional goals of the military strikes. Aerial imagery also showed impacts against the southerly Khorgu base and north-western Tabriz missile missile bases, and at the Konarak base, where weapons bunkers and fortifications were hit.

At the Choqa Balk-e unmanned aircraft site west of the city of Kermanshah, widespread destruction was identified to sheds, underground facilities and UAV launching apparatus.

Destruction was also seen at a radar installation at the Zahedan airbase in eastern Iran, near the border with neighboring nations.

Of particular note, the new round of strikes have reportedly focused on sites at Natanz – long said to be at the heart of the country's nuclear programme. A global monitoring agency said that the damaged buildings were used for access to the site's underground nuclear plant and that "no release of radioactive material" was expected.

Wider Consequences and Analysis

Defense experts stated that the offensive appeared to have "greatly reduced" the Iran's naval capability to sustain standard operations using its most significant vessels. Nevertheless, it was emphasised that Tehran retains the option to launch asymmetric warfare at sea through the use of drones, mini-submarines and its so-called "shadow fleet" of oil ships.

The total scope of the destruction caused to Iranian military facilities is still uncertain, with hostilities said to be persisting. Photos also reveals extensive destruction to the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the capital Tehran.

Numerous of non-military structures also seem to have been damaged in the capital and throughout the country after the hostilities began. Toll estimates from ground sources suggest that a high number of non-combatants may have been killed in the attacks.

Amid continuing hostilities, monitoring of aerial photographs will persist to track the changing scope of damage.
