NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features text commentary for the weekend matchups via various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available through select stations covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six in the NFL season , after last week's discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each lost their perfect starts.

Striking in those games were the number of penalties both conceded. Philadelphia did so in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this Sunday.

But it proved positive to observe how Denver's QB the rookie was able to overcome that deficit before lead three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, securing the victory by four points.

Denver have the top defender in cornerback their star corner. They rank number one in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver won that battle.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing extra defenders but they might position two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and dispatch a slot defender from the outside.

At the start of the season, it was noted on a program that the Broncos could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then excelled in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this season's underdog story?

New TE Evan Engram has excelled significantly and new running back their rusher is a guy they believe in. He's currently fifth in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).

It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

That shows how the Broncos represent a squad aiming to run first, because one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush and keeps you in positive down and distances.

This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – just behind Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw all over, but they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he is highly agile.

His assets include his mobility, being able to pass while moving, and using different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws across the middle or over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got great composure in the pocket and is not bothered by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He has a high football IQ and is very decisive.

When you constantly rush it eats up the clock and forces the opponent to stay in play extended periods, and if you have a mobile QB the defence must defend the field vertically and horizontally. This proves exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton during games at times and I think the coach likes that fire, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for him to have a rookie QB that is similar to moldable clay. The coach can really develop him the way he desires to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

The head coach owns a Super Bowl and now passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. I think the success Denver are experiencing offensively is largely down to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB aids shape him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you during difficult moments and boost confidence.

I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they good enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're working above average, which is a solid position to be in their division. All they need is to continue this path.

They're really good at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they must do against the Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they are the sole squad without a win any game.

Since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, this is kind of shocking considering that the head coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders before the Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the division.

This hinges upon what version of the Chiefs they meet because Denver {beat|def
