After discovering a consumer learned Aldi was launching a fresh product collection that seemed comparable to items from premium company Augustinus Bader, she was "super excited".
The shopper dashed to her closest store to pick up the Lacura face cream for £8.49 for 50ml - a small portion of the £240 price tag of the Augustinus Bader 50ml product.
Its smooth blue tube and gold cap of both items look noticeably comparable. And though Rachael has never tried the high-end cream, she says she's satisfied by the dupe so far.
She has been using lookalike products from mainstream retailers and supermarkets for some time, and she's in good company.
More than a fourth of UK buyers say they've tried a skincare or makeup dupe. This jumps to 44% among millennials and Gen Z, as per a recent poll.
Lookalikes are skincare products that copy well-known labels and present budget-friendly substitutes to premium items. They typically have similar branding and containers, but sometimes the ingredients can differ substantially.

Skincare professionals contend many substitutes to luxury brands are decent quality and aid make skincare cheaper.
"I don't think higher-priced is always more effective," comments consultant dermatologist one expert. "Not all budget beauty label is inferior - and not every luxury skincare product is the finest."
"Some [dupes] are really excellent," notes a skincare commentator, who runs a program with famous people.
A lot of of the products inspired by high-end brands "sell out so rapidly, it's just unbelievable," he observes.

Medical expert Ross Perry thinks dupes are suitable to use for "simple routines" like moisturisers and face washes.
"Dupes will be effective," he explains. "They will perform the basics to a reasonable degree."
Ketaki Bhate, thinks you can save money when you're looking for single-ingredient items like hyaluronic acid, Vitamin B3 and a moisturizing ingredient.
"When you're buying a single-ingredient product then you're likely going to be okay in opting for a budget alternative or something which is quite low cost because there's minimal that can cause issues," she explains.
However the experts also recommend buyers investigate and say that higher-priced items are at times worth the additional cost.
Regarding premium skincare, you're not only funding the label and marketing - often the increased price also is due to the ingredients and their standard, the strength of the effective element, the research used to create the product, and studies into the products' efficacy, Dr Belmo says.
Facialist she says it's valuable questioning how some dupes can be sold so inexpensively.
In some cases, she believes they may have less effective components that lack as many positive effects for the complexion, or the materials might not be as high-quality.
"The big question mark is 'How is it so inexpensive?'" she says.
Podcast host Scott says sometimes he's bought skincare items that look comparable to a established label but the product itself has "no resemblance to the original".
"Do not be sold by the outer appearance," he cautioned.

Regarding potent products or those with ingredients that can inflame the skin if they're not created accurately, such as retinoids or vitamin C serums, Dr Bhate suggests selecting research-backed labels.
She explains these will likely have been subjected to comprehensive trials to assess how successful they are.
Beauty items need to be tested before they can be sold in the UK, explains consultant dermatologist Emma Wedgeworth.
When the brand advertises about the efficacy of the product, it requires research to support it, "but the brand doesn't always have to conduct the trials" and can instead use evidence done by other companies, she says.
