Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.

Details of the Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
