The EU could “respond swiftly and decisively” in response to what it calls “unjustified” travel bans issued by the US on five Europeans working on fighting digital hatred and misinformation, a European Commission spokesperson stated.

EU Officials Decry US Move as ‘Coercion’

European leaders such as Emmanuel Macron charged the US administration of “bullying and threats”, following the visa restrictions targeted figures that were central to efforts to introduce laws regulating American tech companies.

“For too long, European activists have spearheaded coordinated campaigns to pressure American platforms to suppress US perspectives they disagree with,” wrote a senior US official online. “The current administration will no longer tolerate such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”
