The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his position after a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.
Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.
They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.
“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from management,” the coach remarked.
“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory naturally but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”
He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”
Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:
“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”
He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”
The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.
“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.
“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”
He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”
“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase of this nature with performances like these.”
Jones stated, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”
“We’re going to try to get this team back to its rightful place, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”
“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
